Premise and first two chapters
A two-day fishing trip leaves a married woman alone in the house with her husband's son, who is home only for the weekend. Riley, the stepmother, has been watching him for some time; he has never noticed her attention. Before leaving, the father jokes that she should stop the son from spending the whole weekend at his desk, and she promises to keep him busy. She asks pointed questions about girlfriends, plans a film for the evening and complains that her husband dislikes most of what she enjoys. The son tries to stay polite while realizing what the attention means.
Episode 1 covers the goodbye, an awkward kitchen exchange and the moment the son understands she is flirting with him on purpose. The second instalment moves to the couch, where the movie is ignored and a call from the father nearly exposes them; both keep their voices even. Later Riley follows him to his room with an improvised story of her own, offering each time to stop if he asks. He does not ask. How the two face the father on Sunday night is left unresolved.
