What They Don't Know hinges on a husband named Theo whose recurring dreams about the gothic household next door start leaking into waking life. Over eight episodes he and his wife are drawn into the neighbors' private club, and the tone stays dark, teasing and quietly menacing.
Premise and first two chapters
A string of vivid dreams about the people next door becomes a problem when those neighbors start discussing them as if they had been present. Theo is married and has kept his fantasies to himself, or believes he has. His neighbors dress in black, answer to names such as Dark Angel, and suggest that next time he should leave his window open. The opening gives away little more, so the setup rests on suggestion: a sleeping man, a window, a household that listens. The neighbors want a confession; Theo wants his private life to stay private; his wife's place in all this is not yet clear.
The first episode is brief, little more than an encounter across the property line and that remark about the window. In the second, the neighbors tell Theo he kept them waiting and that his sleep-talking reached them again. They ask him to describe the dream aloud, insist they already know it, and then offer to finish what he started, with the choice handed to him. What his wife learns about these visits, and how she reacts, is where the series turns next.
