My Stepsister Thinks I’m Pathetic pairs a scornful content creator, Mona Newman, with the stepbrother she belittles, until her flagging videos need a second pair of hands. Premise and first two chapters
A string of videos that keep underperforming is the problem Mona Newman will not admit, least of all to her stepbrother, whom she treats as a nuisance. He has been watching her film long enough to say exactly why the clips fall flat. Their parents are at the lake until Sunday. Mona wants better numbers and refuses to ask for help; he wants her to stop treating him with contempt. Once she concedes that the shots look cheap without someone holding the camera, the two of them are working together in her room.
The pilot opens with him caught watching from her doorway, a round of insults, and a reluctant first shoot in which he coaches her to look into the lens as if she wants the person behind it. In episode 2 she complains that he never came to her room the night before, then asks for help with a lingerie video. The take grows heated, she calls a halt, then changes her mind and asks for one more take with the camera switched off. What happens once nothing is recording falls to episode 3.
