My Dad’s Bride Wants Me First! drops a reluctant best man into the week before his father's wedding, where the bride, Margot, and Dahlia, who stands beside her as maid of honor, keep assigning him duties the ceremony never required. Five episodes of zippers, garters and near misses, told as bold, cheeky farce.
Premise and first two chapters
A wedding set for Saturday makes a man best man at his own father's ceremony, and the bride treats the title as a list of private favors. Margot is only a few years older than her future stepson, invites him to call her Mom if he likes, and makes clear she wants nothing motherly from him. His father tells him to do whatever Margot needs this week. Her stepsister Dahlia, the maid of honor, arrives with ideas of her own about wedding customs.
The pilot introduces the household and the fitting: the groom must not see the gown, by the old superstition, so Margot asks the best man to zip it while his father waits on the other side of the door. She then explains that a best man's real duty is giving the bride whatever she asks for. By the second episode Dahlia joins in, invites him to jump in with her and calls it tradition that the maid of honor claims the best man. Margot has him remove the garter and promises a present. What that present is, with the wedding days away, waits for episode 3.
