Mia Malkova Is My Girlfriend's Step-Mom sends an anxious boyfriend to meet Camilla's family over Halloween, where her stepmother is Mia Malkova playing herself. She knows he has watched her films and arranges every party game so that she is always paired with him. Five episodes, comic and flirty, spiked with stage fright.
Premise and first two chapters
Meeting a partner's family on a holiday weekend is stressful enough before the stepmother turns out to be famous. Camilla's boyfriend recognizes Mia Malkova on sight, admits he has seen a few of her videos, and stammers. Mia finds his nerves charming and takes charge of the evening's entertainment, a costume party with games she runs. He wants to impress Camilla's family and keep his eyes where they belong; Mia wants him as her partner in every round, and she is the one making the rules.
The pilot is all introductions: the stare, the stuttered greeting, Camilla's arrival and a warning that the lights go out at ten for hide and seek, with Mia always hiding first. Mia whispers that she will be in her closet and that whoever finds her first gets to see beneath her dress. In the second episode he finds her quickly. She was expecting him, quips about devils and sinners, and pulls him in as Camilla's footsteps and voice move through the bedroom, calling her name. Whether Camilla opens that closet is the question episode 3 has to settle.
