The Anniversary Massage stages a marriage gift that goes sideways: Lauren arranges a home massage for her husband Dan, then works in the next room while Veronica, the masseuse, decides what relaxing should mean. Six episodes long, it plays as dry, teasing comedy with a steady undertone of risk.
Premise and first two chapters
An anniversary present booked months in advance brings a masseuse into Dan's house, and his wife Lauren chooses to spend the session working in the next room. Lauren has arranged ninety minutes with Veronica, a therapist with a long waiting list, and declined the couples option so the day is about him. Dan, who bought her nothing more than a candle, already feels guilty. Veronica has heard from Lauren that he struggles to unwind, and she treats that as a professional challenge.
Episode 1 sets the room: hot stones, a choice between lavender and vanilla, and Veronica's instruction to undress completely before lying down. Lauren checks in from the doorway, hears he is behaving, and leaves again. The second episode turns the intake questions personal. Veronica notes he wears no ring, asks about his range of motion, and shuts the door after Lauren pops in looking for a phone charger. Then she tells him to turn over, reminding him the gift was paid in full. What the full treatment includes, with Lauren still a wall away, falls to episode 3.
