Under The Captain pairs Mila, a nervous new stewardess on a private superyacht, with the owner everyone on board calls Captain. Vera, who runs his crew, has hoped for years to catch his eye and now watches it go elsewhere. Five episodes, part workplace rivalry and part seduction, with a catty edge.
Premise and first two chapters
A first day of work on a superyacht can end a career quickly, and Mila arrives convinced she will make a mess of it. The owner, a serious man the crew addresses as Captain, runs his schedule through Vera, his chief stew, who handles his broker calls and has quietly hoped for three years that he will ask her out. He barely registers her hint about a marina dinner, because the new hire has just walked up with a jug of orange juice.
In the pilot, a lurch of the boat sends the juice over his shirt. Vera dismisses Mila as a seasonal nobody, but the owner offers to fit her with a dry uniform below and tells her to take off the wet top. The second episode cuts between the cabin and the crew upstairs: Mila changes while he turns away, and Vera and the other stews count the minutes, Vera insisting he only likes mature, intelligent women. How Vera reacts once she understands what kept them below is the next problem.
