Veronica's Fitting Room stages a suit fitting that keeps running past closing time. Veronica, a tailor with a sharp eye and no patience for nerves, works on a groom whose wedding is days away and whose fiancée keeps calling. Five episodes, close and intimate, in a bold and teasing register.
Premise and first two chapters
A wedding suit that still needs exact measurements brings a groom to Veronica's shop with the ceremony five days off and his week falling apart. His fiancée is on the phone about a messy venue and a caterer feuding with his mother, and he promises to handle it. Veronica has fitted many men for their weddings and reads his nerves at a glance. She wants his coat and shirt off for the waist, and she wants him to admit he is not sure he is ready. He wants to get through the fitting without showing how much she rattles him.
Episode 1 keeps to the fitting room: tape measure, stray comments, an unsettled groom, and an invitation to return the next day without his fiancée. In the second episode he comes back alone, four days out, telling himself he should not, while his fiancée believes he is elsewhere. Veronica drops all pretense about the suit. Then the fiancée arrives at the shop and calls through the door, which Veronica has locked. Whether he answers her, or stays silent on the other side, is where episode 3 has to start.
