Premise and first two chapters
One careless glance during a budget meeting puts a sales employee's job on the line. Diana Demont runs the room, and her husband owns the company; he replaces staff for a single error, and she says so plainly. She gives the man a choice: lose the position, or take on an assignment that will never appear in an email. The deal is simple and lopsided. If he performs, he stays. If he impresses her, he stays longer. Everything she asks has to be met with the same two words, and he learns them quickly.
Episode 1 moves from the public dressing-down to her private office, where she sets the appointment for that night. The second episode opens with Diana phoning her husband to say the board numbers will keep her late, then turns to the presentation itself: a Q3 plan that cuts soft leads and frees twelve percent of capacity. She rejects his slide, calls the error his second strike and tells him he will work it off on the spot. What that debt costs him, and whether the husband notices the late nights, is the business of episode 3.
