My Father's New Queen puts Aubrey Vaughn on the throne as a queen secretly working for her brother's army, opposite the king's son who discovers it on the wedding night. Five episodes weigh loyalty against desire in a castle about to be besieged; the tone is dark, scheming and urgent.
Premise and first two chapters
A royal wedding humiliates the heir before it is even over: the court laughs as he kneels to kiss the hand of his father's new wife, who watches him in a way nobody present can miss. That night the old king drinks himself to sleep and she comes to the son's wing instead, asking him to oil her skin as her maids usually do. Beneath the gown he finds the brand of House Vale, his father's enemy through ten years of war. The prince wants to protect the crown. The queen wants him on her side when the gates open.
Episode 1 ends on her dare: report her to the king, or finish what he started. By the second episode he has spent an hour at the king's chamber without speaking a word of it, a silence she calls treason already committed. She reveals the plan: Lord Vale's army is two days out, and she will open the north gate, dooming everyone inside. Then riders appear on the north road early. Which side the prince takes, his father's or hers, is the choice episode 3 cannot postpone.
