Premise and first two chapters
A broken-down car and a week of commutes put a man alone with his girlfriend's mother every evening, and neither the girlfriend nor the mother's husband is meant to hear about it. Kayla asks him to drive Diana home from work, a forty-minute trip, while the car sits at the mechanic. Kayla works long hours and the couple barely see each other. Diana is married, flirts openly from the passenger seat and treats every mile as an opening. He tells himself he is only being polite.
