My Girlfriend’s Stepsister Left the Door Open plays out a game of near misses between Noah and Ella, his girlfriend's stepsister, conducted while his girlfriend is somewhere in the house. Premise and first two chapters
A door on the upstairs landing has been open six times lately, and six times Noah has looked in. He lives with his girlfriend, and her stepsister Ella is staying in that room. Ella is tired of the quick apologies and turns them into a dare: she wants him inside, not lingering in the hallway. Noah tries to remind her who she is related to. His girlfriend wanders the house calling for him and is often already late for something, which gives Ella all the cover she needs.
In episode 1, Ella pulls him into her room just as his girlfriend starts searching upstairs, and she tells him to stay silent until the coast is clear. He slips away, but Ella lets him know she has not finished with him. The second episode starts with the girlfriend heading out until after midnight. Noah resolves to end it and goes to tell Ella so, only to find himself back where he started. Then the girlfriend returns for keys she left in his jacket and calls Ella's name. Whether she opens that door is the cliffhanger.
