Pleasure Island opens with Evangelina meeting Chad, the handsome brother of her mother's new husband, during a sunny island stay. He asks her aboard a boat for an afternoon of swimsuits and drinks, which sets five episodes in motion, with a carefree, sun-soaked register that keeps the flirting light and the evening plans loose.
Premise and first two chapters
A holiday villa and a new family connection bring Evangelina into the orbit of a man she is not quite related to. Her mother has just married a confident outdoorsman, who spends the afternoon shooting targets with her and praising her aim. Back at the villa he introduces his brother Chad, a charmer with a party invitation ready. Chad is openly impressed by her; Evangelina returns the compliment just as easily. The plan for the night is a yacht, a crowd and very little in the way of clothing.
Episode 1 covers the target practice, the introduction and Chad's invitation, which she accepts before jumping into the pool with him. In the second episode they cool off in the water while Chad describes the party as a casual affair with dancing, and warns that people might start talking about the way they look at each other. On the yacht a guest asks whether the party is lively enough, Chad calls her his step-niece, and someone suggests they all find a bedroom. Whose idea that was, and whether Evangelina follows it, is left for episode 3.
