I Won My Best Friend's Girlfriend opens with Sofia seeing her boyfriend Jake off to a conference, then answering the door to his friend, who has come to install a graphics card. Five episodes follow what grows between the two of them once a reason for revenge appears. Slow, quiet, built on long glances.
Premise and first two chapters
A weekend conference leaves an apartment with one resident and one visitor. Jake flies out with Sofia's breakfast and promises behind him, and only at the door does he remember that a friend will drop by to install his new graphics card before Monday. Sofia was expecting an empty weekend; instead she has a near stranger in Jake's office on the left. The friend wants to finish the job and leave; Sofia has not yet decided what she wants, and the official description hints that something Jake has done will give her a motive.
The pilot lingers on the couple's morning, pancakes and teasing, before Jake's hurried message announces the visitor and Sofia opens the door to him. In the second episode the friend sets to work on the computer while Sofia, dressed for exercise, asks whether he minds her starting her workout nearby. He says it is fine and keeps his eyes on the hardware, mostly. When he finishes and calls her name, she does not answer at once, and where she has gone is what episode 3 needs to reveal.
