Premise and first two chapters
A husband who is never home leaves a marriage running on phone calls and excuses, and his latest delay stretches a business trip by several more days. Amanda Langford takes the news calmly, as she always does. That same evening a man who has just moved in next door knocks to borrow sugar and a working bulb, joking that he has run out of dignity too. He is attentive, perceptive and oddly well informed. Sarah, Amanda's closest friend, is the person she confides in. Amanda wants to feel noticed again without betraying her vows.
Episode 1 covers the call from the husband, the neighbor's visit, a voicemail Amanda leaves for Sarah and a trip upstairs to the bathroom that leaves her flustered. As he thanks her, he calls her by name, though she never gave it. The second episode takes place over drinks. Sarah suggests the husband has cheated for years and tells Amanda she deserves some fun. Amanda recalls an anonymous person who revealed his affairs to her years ago, and Sarah wonders aloud whether the neighbor might be that person. Who he really is remains the open thread.
